Saint Homer Simpson

Remember, The simpsons series, Homer simpson is the father of three-Lisa,Margie and Bart a dog and a cat.His wife being Marge. The vatican recently said Homer and Bart are catholics and that the parents should allow their kids to watch the episodes….hehehe:) blessing from the pope literally…well despite the fact that some acts like beer drinking of homer contradict teachings of the good book..or its a case of a little wine for thy stomach’s sake?..

So go ahead spoil yourself with animation….by spoil i mean enjoy it…

But my one request to Pope Benedict is to make Homer simpson a saint…yeah if he’s already approved why not?

femme fatales

Well, dont stare at me like that,it means women who are jinxed…The story ran in one of the local dailies of a certain lady 40 yrs of age yet has been married more than four times. The first marriage was great, the villagers were in awe of the couple, after getting their first child, the husband died in an accident. She was consoled and two years later, hitched up with a second hand car dealer. She got married and lived well.As bad luck would have it,the husband was abducted and killed by carjackers.Similar tragedies happened to her other marriages. As a result, the villagers would murmur how she is ‘cursed’ in low tones.

Well, am not a geek, i cant simply explain such scenarios and not even the mganga kutoka tanzania..daktari so and so…can. Some would argue, well its just bad luck born from her family…What do you think?

Retirement? Naaaah!

Yes is said it…retirement is a term relegated to world war II period..We are living in an age where lifestyles have changed.10 years ago,by the time one has worked to 55 yrs, especially in civil service, the only thing that will escort you home is a pension or golden handshake. Thanks to tough economic times, many people are working way past the retirement age.

My mom for example has been in the civil service for the past three decades, today she is active in the women organisations and businesses..yet she only has two years to retirement(55yrs) the additional 5 yr increment by the government limit age(60) are too much for her she says having a personal ambition and goal overrides all else.

This has got me thinking, that you are only as old as your brain is…engaging in active life is the way to go.Many of us often complain that life is boring..well have an open mind, there’s a lot going on around you, have a free spirit, live a life full of passion, pursue your ambitions….Joyce Meyer says…ENJOY EVERYDAY LIFE…

Open Intimacy

An article today ran on the Daily Nation concerning how ‘loving’ today’s parents are even in front of their children as young as 2yrs old.The article details of a parent who was called by the headmistress to her son’s school only to be told that her child was caught making out with a classmate in the school’s playground. So, where did he learn this?

On further investigations, the child revealed that while playing at a neighbours house, with his friend, they peeped into the parents bedroom whose door was partially open and noticed yeah…the couples session.Sad as it is,this is just but a reflection of how far our society has gone..in terms of morals and parenting..back in the days,if a girl even showed her pants to the boys, she would face the wrath of her mother.

Parents and older persons have a critical role to play in showing guidance to the younger generation. When Pastor Allan and Kathy Kiuna of JCC were asked whether parents need to be luvy duvy in front of kids, they said OK.that a display of affection is healthy for children, since it makes them feel secure in the knowledge that their parents love each other.

Well, they maybe right but the question is to what extent, should kids know and see love? the verdict is yours..but know that today’s generation learn a lot at a very early age…i mean a kid of 2yrs knows a lot about intimacy thanks to media-tv,radio,magazines,music,newspapers etc.So, who will teach the child?

Kinight Michael Joseph

Remember the days we would scramble for a chance at the telephone booth just to make that critical call? Not so long ago, in fact 1o years ago. Then came a revolution that for beginners a few enjoyed-the mobile phone. At the time, they were huge and bulky. But then came Safaricom and Kencell….people bought phones and life changed since then….the latter, changed its stakeholders several times twice actually….but its subscribers did not grow. The former, christened the better option’ marked as green logo, grew steady and its subscribers grew to large numbers, the boosters were set up all over the country,7 yrs later, it went into the stock market, guys bought shares a lot.

The growth did not stop there, earlier, kenyans would go through hectic times to send money to their loved ones thru western union, money gram or physical locomotions.MPESA-mobile banking was born..they same up with bonga points promotions, the adverts are simply quality….

Today, help me laud this man who brought these changes…Mr. Michael Joseph, the immediate former safaricom CEO.Some would argue, what if he was President?….MJ as most call you….i simply enigmatise you….fare thee well, bon voyage…you’ve done well.

Big Fish Frying

write this with pride noting that the controversial sale of the Kenyan ambassadorial residence in Japan and Pakistan has seen the minister of foreign affairs Hon Mr. Wetangula and PS resign. It was more like bow down to public pressure.A few weeks back, the 272 million illegal sale of a piece of land in Ngong forest saw Higher eduction minister William Ruto suspended by the President..though he refused to willfully resign.

Added, Mr. Godfrey Majiwa the Nairobi Mayor has also seen nights in Kilimani police station and court over the multi-million shilling cemetery scandal. In case you read this and you aint kenyan….well lets say its a country that embraces impunity but this is about to end as the anti corruption commission draws in on the public .Great effort but is it just temporal and the vigor will fade with days to come?

Lack of media content?

Permit me if you may to reflect back to the days kenyan radio was educative.Back then, there was content on prime time programming(7am-10am breakfast and 3pm-7pm drive) on Radio. These days, though some of these FM stations have attained fame awards for their dare devilry by talking about ‘bedroom’ and ‘family’ issues that we have failed to talk i still perceive broadcast media as really above that.Be that as it may, the situation worsens with commercials that now form as part of the discussion links!

Advertising?

Spots sell the media at large.I take issue with some of the adverts that have semi-adult content coming up on air at peak time when your kids are with you in the living room watching. My goodness? what happened to ethics?

I know you probably think am making a fuss about nothing.Well, just in case you didnt know THE AIRWAVES is a public utility that must be used and handle with care.Part of the reforms seriously i must say should entail some of the stakeholders going back to media school! Yeah thats it…
