Oh church can be routine

Kenya is said to have 80% of Christians. Well, numbers are just that numbers, of the same born again Christians maybe just 10% or less of this number. Now, of the nominal Christians many have grown up knowing that Sundays or Saturdays are church days...from childhood its become a norm. I am not complaining only that at some point someday you will sit down and see this as a routine and a boring one for that matter if you are a usual christian i.e. the Sunday type..Today virtual church is now in our homes thanks to live broadcast of church services on Sundays. Many are glad..like phew i can slumber all Sunday..on my couch! ouch if my reverend heard that, you would get some good summon. Many are today avoiding church as it came to a point that things were usual, lives were not changed even those that went they could hardly wait for the summons to end so that they go home/out for hanging outs..Well, religion may not get you to heaven but at times you need to get your act together..read the bible, pray often, fellowship with others, have genuine friendships. The church of biblical times grew in numbers because they fellowship together and many were born again. For church in Kenya to bring about changes, we need serious transformation among us as individuals first and committment to see things change for the better...so start going church today:)

Technology bana common

I was dismayed yesterday when a whole doctor, a spokesman of a whole government appeared on television and expressed his shock at the fact that Ocampo decided to use video conferencing to address Kenyan journalist at 1pm.In his own words, the guy says its 'strange' I went like OMG where in the world is this guy coming from? I mean seriously! its 21st century for crying out loud and technology is fast evolving. My goodness in fact social media is the in thing now, that actually toppled two presidents out of power..yes its that powerful. You see times are fast changing really and even more when digital technology checks in..so just a word of advice change with the times or change will sweep you. For government officials hehe that why we need young blood in there to bring change and who knows one day this will be possible like a true revolution.

Damn Kenyan politicians

Sometimes I am filled with rage when I look at the politics of my country, well for the continent is another matter together. Why? There seems to be some form of disease ranging from impunity to corruption to nepotism..blah blah blah..Of late, the issue of ICC that began a few years bak in the quest for justice hs returned. This time the famous six politicians have been summoned quite sooner than they thought or expected..buhahaha a toast to that:) Well, this is the pissing part, the VP in all his demeanor carried 35 million and started a shuttle diplomacy journey to UN security council to seek deferral of the cases back to Kenya.Nver mind these same goons failed to agree on local tribunal a while back...The interesting part is this, the same part of the government sends a letter to UN security counsil urging them to disregard VP's plea...that his view represents the half of the government..walalala interesting...it doesnt stop here, anothe part of the second group now plans to send the letter to counter the letter that countered VP stating that its only a part of ODM that agrees with non-deferall...Now imagine what picture is portayed of this beloved nation at the high tables...hehe terrible. As this stupidity is going on, there are IDP's still in the camp and guys who were thrown out of forests, homeless...Its crazzyyy...seriously crazzzy....all in all what am saying is we need justice and God will come through for the weak..trust me..His hand never sleeps and judgement awaits afater all..they say Malipo ni papa hapa duniani...

THE WILL WHEELS HER LONG

THE WILL TO LIVE
By Charles Kemboi
At sixty years, many would probably be sweetly enjoying retirement in the countryside after years of work. This is not the same script for Mary Anyango* who until some years back lived happily with no dependants. For her children had moved to the city to work. However, tragedy struck
and the parents of little Dennis and Farida, passed on leaving her to take care of them.
As the sun slowly rises in the horizon, a weak and frail grandma slowly prepares the fire as the children run around. In the not too far distance, the graves stare, a constant reminder of lives that once promised to bring luck and fortune to her home.
On this day, the children will remain at home as it is the weekend and schools are closed. Mary quickly prepares maize porridge for the little ones, which by the way maybe the only meal they have for the day. She quickly calls out the youngest, “Apii ithii mar John iparoni sukar”( Apii
go and borrow from our neighbor John some sugar). Apii runs off into the
distance and comes back with a handful of sugar. The day progresses and Mary slowly trots to the small farm to till her sweet potatoes, maize and beans. Judging from the almost bare land, she
contemplates her harvest maybe little this year. Luckily, Rapuogi Women’s group that she started a while with her friends is ‘a lucky saver’ she says. Every month, they contribute their meager earnings to the kitty for their upkeep and emergencies.
The group, which consists mainly of widows from the local area has done quite a lot over the years bringing development to the village. Most of the men folk and young men spend time in the market and pubs sipping alcohol and discussing the politics of the day. Mary strives to till with the children helping out. After two hours, the scorching sun beckons and she retreats to the medium sized tree for the shade. As soon as she does this, three elderly members of the group emerge from the bushes, glittering with excitement. She nods and smiles at them, with her dark brown gum exposing few remaining teeth. They have a hearty chat and give her some money and food as it is her day to get shares from the group. The following month, it will be another member. By noon, the women leave with small pots headed to the river to fetch water for domestic use.
As the children play, she heads to the market with her small ciondo (basket), to buy a few vegetables and fruits. Within no time, she returns and cooks food for the kids who feed hurriedly. The afternoons basically find her taking a long nap or listening to the local
FM radio. Soon enough, the evening dusk appears and its back to the fire place for the evening meals. The grandchildren, who are 3yrs and 5 yrs respectively, sit down to listen to the folk stories from Mary. For with all her years comes experience. After her children passed on, she learnt to live one day at a time and facing challenges as they come. The cricket chirp
away the night and owls hoot in the distance. Soon enough, the grandchildren are fast asleep.
For Mary, she’s got some long thinking to do; most of it is about the future of her grandchildren after she is gone to be with her ancestors. Well, the blanket’s growing cold and someone has got turn in…good night world.

Skuma Wikileaks

Now, if there is anything that will be causing storm in the next couple of days is the animal called Wiki leaks..You see the high and mighty in Africa are now seeing dust. The latest that the Vice President was in touch with President Bish to pressure Kibaki to step down due to ill health so that he may ascend the house on the hill is just too in media words 'bombshell'.
Indeed power is sweet for that matter and getting it especially for politicians is a constant pursuit. So, lets see what esle comes up in the next few days.
