GROWING UP?
This Morning i woke up to an interesting talk on Teenagers and Alcohlism in one of popular radio stations. For once, i laughed but then sanity quickly hit me up.The Presenters were angrilly urging the bar owners and fuel stations not to sell alcohol to underage 'kids'.To me this debate is a circus, a blame game as parents-teens-media-society seem to suggest the back stops with the other.Take a walk across town and notice the many adult DVD's posters everywhere..No one complained about them and they have been there all along! Many of the kids involved in alcoholism are alone so to speak.Their parents are busy looking for the money to pay their fees to stay in boarding schools. The teachers there well to say the least cannot be substitutes for the parents as to them, their pay is much better. The holidays are here and Party lifestyle will be on the rise. The bar owners hope to cash in on the easter holiday to sell more.So the big question, whats the solution? Should the government interven with strict laws? Should the parents enforce strict morals on their kids? Should the media continue to highlight such issues? If they do is it effective? Isnt the same media the one that brings sex talk on breakfast shows and claims its all we want to hear?that controversy sells? What is your story?
