The other day in a senior Communication class, our lecturer amply asked us to write a reflection on What if I lack a job then…Pretty reversed question, right? No. Wrong! Unfortunately for many of us looking for a job right after graduation seems to be something ‘very easy’ and we are somewhat creating a ‘wishy-washy’ expectation of instant paved way jobs slots. I read an article from www.timesnewsonline.com and a story of one, Mary Steadman a mom from Nairobi struck me. She lost her job as an accountant representative at a factory and to make matters worse, her husband was retrenched. After the ordeal she embarked on online job searching and stumbled upon Google (but as you know it just a search engine).Online giant Google is a publicly traded company and is worth an estimated $100 Billion. The company has pioneered online search and has changed the way we use the internet. In a matter of weeks Mary and Kevin had a steady stream of income coming in via checks that were delivered to their home. They happened upon a system called "Google Biz Kit" that taught them how to make money posting links online.
Google Biz Kit is a course that can teach anyone, regardless of computer skill level to start making money online.
The times that we live in are fast paced and as jobs are hard to come by, innovation comes with necessity.
This is not the only thing they stumbled on, in her blog, Mary notes that they had to combine with another free course "Kit” where they learnt to make extra bucks.
Of course not every site that you Google on that promises great returns is genuine. Trace back with me the other day when several Kenyans were conned off their money through pyramid schemes. I further noted that to get started one needs to Get Google Biz Kit, only paying the 80 shillings for shipping. Then combining with Ebay Success Kit. Afterwards, start posting those links and Google will track everything. Follow the directions on Google Biz Kit that basically shows you how to and set up a Google account. You need them both. Then they will give you the website links to post. Start posting those links. Google tracks everything.
I know you are probably thinking that this is another of those grand schemes but why not try it out? If it worked for Mary, it could work for you. The times that we live in are fast paced and as jobs are hard to come by, innovation comes with necessity. You might sit there and think well I have a job why worry? Unless you are on permanent and pensionable scheme the route is the same.
Working online is quite normal in western countries, Europe and the Asian nations. Why not Africa? Kenya? The fiber optic cable is with us here and experts say beginning January 2010 Digital broadcasting will be on thereby witnessing explosion of stations. Companies are strategically aligning themselves and investing in Information Technology. You can’t afford to be left out. One advantage of online working is that it will be even from the comfort of your home, at the park, anywhere! However, you’ll surely miss social interaction with your workmates and those good laughs over tea break. Of course you’ll have to incur costs previously covered by your boss to learn a new skill/training. Whichever way you choose, realize that times are changing and you need to realign yourself on the information super highway.
